As a professional writer, I understand the value that a human editor can provide to a project. However, I still use Grammarly to edit everything I post daily on this site. I already have a strong understanding of grammar and English norms, but it’s incredible how easily typos and minor errors can enter into anyone’s writing.
So, what is Grammarly, exactly? Is it worth it? Is it capable of taking the place of a human proofreader or editor? Read till the end to find all answers before you decide to buy Grammarly.
Why should you use Grammarly?
You are most likely to have heard of the Grammarly software if you do any kind of online writing. Moreover, it is one of the most popular grammar and spelling checkers used by over 10 million users daily. Grammarly examines a piece of text you’ve written and checks for errors for those who don’t.
While a Grammarly free account takes care of all the fundamental errors, including wrong spellings, punctuation, and grammar, the premium version will take your content to the next level altogether. It provides some of the best and most stylish writing recommendations. It means with this software, and you can go beyond unprofessional and sloppy and write content that is engaging and clear.
Grammarly can help you polish your emails, social media postings, blogs, and formal papers, no matter what type of writing you’re doing — professional, casual, or hobby writing.
Is it worth using a Grammarly checker?
As a writer, I understand why writing precisely is essential. Here is a list of reasons to justify the statement.
- The value of your message should be precise and crisp. Your readers will struggle to understand the point you’re attempting to convey in any writing, from blogs to tweets, if your message isn’t clear.
- Your writing is a reflection of yourself. There is no point spoiling the standard of your content due to basic grammar errors that can be avoided quite easily. Your work reflects your personality, and you must ensure that the quality is always high.
- There’s nothing to lose. Using a grammar checker will only help you improve the quality of your work. It takes very little time, assists and enhances your writing, and ensures that you communicate with your audience in the proper style and tone. As a result, a comprehensive online grammar checker can assist writers in proving that their work is precise and error-free.
Is Grammarly really free?
Unlike some products, where the free version or free trial is a subpar and severely limited version of itself, Grammarly’s free version is quite good.
It includes everything you’ll need to start writing, including a comprehensive spelling, grammar, and punctuation checker which is more powerful than the standard spell-check available in most word processors.
When the tool detects potential errors, it highlights them in red. If you’re using the web interface, you can then click the sections on the right to move through each issue (Grammar, Punctuation, etc.). You may also learn more by clicking on each highlighted error.
The free version will spot the majority of everyday writing errors and propose terms you might have meant to use. It will also point out any mistakes in the convention.
You’ll also be able to see how many errors Grammarly Premium discovered in your work. Importantly, you will not see these in the free version and will need to upgrade to see them.
Grammarly Premium Account: Is it a good investment?
When it comes to online grammar checkers, Grammarly Premium is the best option. To begin with, the premium version contains all of the features found in the free version. Then there’s everything else.
Grammarly Premium has a much higher number of grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and context checks than the free version. It will look for the following things, in addition to the tests in the free version:
- Inconsistencies in writing
- The insensitive language
- The structure is hazy
- The tone is not acceptable
- Using too many words
- Wordiness
Grammarly’s premium edition claims to go above and beyond grammar to ensure that everything you write is clear and engaging. As an important point, Grammarly Premium won’t make your work precise and engaging on its own. No grammar checker can turn sloppy and hasty work into a masterpiece.
Grammarly Premium, on the other hand, has several quite valuable features that I use daily. When I run Grammarly Premium over a piece of writing, it always provides a few more helpful suggestions, which I incorporate into my content.
The pop-up window also provides specific information about each of your grammar faults, something you won’t get with the free version. The flexibility to customize the type of suggestions and feedback I receive is my favorite feature of Grammarly Premium.
As a writer, you should always seek feedback. However, any comments must consider the reasons for the writing or why the content was created in the first place. With these individualized goals, Grammarly appears to be making a purposeful attempt to transform their AI editor into something more human.
This is how you can make the most of this feature
You can alter the parameters when you open a new document so that you can create writing goals based on:
- a domain name (academic, business, or technical).
- fashion (formal or informal)
- Feelings (mild or strong)
- Intention (inform, describe, convince, tell a story)
- The target audience (general or expert)
Grammarly uses these options to determine which errors it will flag or ignore. Grammarly will also provide some helpful information depending on these objectives.
Is Grammarly worth the money?
Grammarly Premium is, in my opinion, well worth the money. A free version is a valuable tool that is preferable to not having another set of eyes check at your work. It will catch far more spelling and grammar mistakes than a basic free checker.
Consider installing Grammarly and putting it to the test if you’re a budget writer. However, paying for something is preferable to doing it for free, as with most things in life. Grammarly Premium will discover more problems in the spelling and grammar of your paper. You’ll also get criticism and context on your faults, as well as tips on how to improve your writing style.
